We love a homegrown success story, and White Horse Coffee’s is one us Shire-siders can be proud of. Dominick and Matty’s story started out like many do. A humble, no-frills operation about as small-scale as they come, White Horse Coffee saw its very first brews in the streets of Sutherland, with nothing but a small La Marzocco espresso machine and a dream of sharing great coffee with the local community.
Sixteen years later, their roasts and blends can be found in coffee shops and cafes across the nation, their iconic logo a sign to many Aussies that their day is about to be kick-started in the best possible way.

And now, Dominick and Matty have the industry cred and recognition to show for it - White Horse Coffee has been crowned the Overall Champion in the 2024 globally-recognised Golden Bean Roasting Competition. And, like the Decanter World Wine Awards and the Restaurant Chef Hat system, it’s kind of a big deal. The prestigious accolade has White Horse Coffee sitting up with other big names in the league, like Campos, ONA and Proud Mary, household names to any coffee enthusiast and cafe-goer alike.
“We’ve won a bunch of medals over the years, including a Gold Medal last year in the ‘Elite’ (filtered coffee) category, which we’re super proud of! But we’d never managed to come home as the Overall Winner. We could not be prouder,” says Dominick.
Humble-as-ever, Dominick says it’s reflective of the team behind the brand - and their ever-enduring commitment to doing better. But where to with all this newfound clout?
“We’ve got a saying around here. You’re only as good as your last cup!” Dominick shares. “So we’re not taking our foot off the gas just yet!”
