Gymea Welcomes Yet Another Foodie Destination, Folk Lounge And Dining
A trip to Tradies just got a whole lot better
Gymea is on the up-and-up in the food and dining scene, and this month, it welcomed yet another restaurant to its ranks. Brand spanking new and chic as anything, Tradies new addition, Folk Lounge and Dining, promises to bring good times, mag-worthy style and the talents of a chef Shire locals know and love.
Helmed by the renowned Albi Cuni, of Albi’s Taverna in Cronulla, Folk Lounge and Dining combines the pub classics we’ve come to expect from Tradies, but with a signature twist. Without doing away with juicy beef burgers, crispy schnittys, and hearty roasts, Albi is introducing his knowledge of fine dining Italian cuisine to the mix. In a menu that is both familiar and sophisticated, Albi has added a seasonal rota of ricotta-packed pizzas and saucy gnocchi to the list, as well as a mouth-watering selection of tapas that ranges Spanner Crab Bruscetta to impeccably layered Mille Feuille.
As admirers of Albi’s Taverna in Cronulla will know, dessert is not to be missed: expect Albi’s Signature Ricotta Cannolo to make an appearance, alongside other divine choices, such as a White Chocolate and Vanilla Crème Brûlée and even a selection of gelato.
The drinks list, of course, has also been carefully considered and crafted. Alongside the venue’s selection of 14 on-tap draught beers and readymade beverages, the crew are offering an extensive array of wine, spirits and handcrafted cocktails that span classic to experimental.
Those who have loved and frequented Tradies over the years are in for a surprise - but rest assured, it’s a pleasant one. Working with the creative minds of Guru Projects, a Sydney-based interior design firm, Tradies has taken a step toward a new era of style and design. Natural finishes, swathes of green and earthy tones are key, where velvety banquette booths, lounge seating and mood lighting provide an intimate backdrop for the new-and-improved menu. From Thursday to Saturday, guests will also be treated to a live music soundtrack performed by a handful of local artists.
But your Folk experience needn’t be limited to nighttime. Its doors open at 8am, where the space operates as a cafe through lunch, serving customers an array of house-made cakes, pastries, gourmet sandwiches and, of course, coffee.
Folk Lounge and Dining opened its doors on 4th July, and welcomes guests from 8:00am in the cafe, 11:30am for lunch, and 5:30pm for dinner. You can view the menu and explore the space in more detail via tradies.com.au.
