It’s true, a lack of warm days would never be enough to slow down our beloved coastal district - and this month, we’re looking at some seriously good gigs. From grooving to jazz while sipping on gin to tons of truffles, here’s the best of what’s on in the Shire for the month of June.
‘Tis The Season For Truffles At Jensens
Truffles month is BACK and bigger than ever between 1st and 31st June. The ultimate umami winter flavour, this ground-bound delicacy has found its way into many of Jensens’ classics, including piled-high pasta dishes and a rotating weekly entree special. Still not enough? You can add truffle shavings to any pick on the menu. Guaranteed to book out quickly, you’ll need to get in early.
Boogie Down At Bobbys
From Friday 31st until Sunday 2nd June, foodie favourite Bobbys is teaming up with Cronulla Jazz and Blues Festival and Hendricks Gin to bring us three nights of great music and bespoke gin-based cocktails. Tuck into their a la carte Euro-inspired menu while you tap along to great music and take in the view from their Beach Bar. Bookings are essential.
Join An All-Pace Race For Global Running Day
Lace up your sneakers, grab your mates and hit the track. In celebration of Global Running Day, lululemon Miranda is hosting an all-inclusive 5 or 7km road/trail run that kicks off on Wednesday 5th June at 6:00am in Cronulla’s Peryman Square. Book A Bottomless At Queen Margherita
We know how much you all love bottomless, and Queen Margherita is here to kick off winter with one of the best. Every Sunday from 12:00pm, your favourite Italian eatery will be slinging antipasto, pizzetta and cannoli alongside a drinks menu to die for (think a spritz bar, wine and beer) to round your week out the right way. Each session lasts 90 minutes and is priced at $99 per person.
Indulge In A Sundowners Sesh At Next Door
A beachside location and cheap drinks - what could be better? Much-loved bar/cafe/restaurant hybrid Next Door are warming things up this winter with Sundowners. Held every Friday and Saturday between 4:00pm and 6:00pm, you can sip on $8 beer, $10 wine and $15 cocktails while you take in the spectacular views on offer. Stay a little longer and treat yourself to their contemporary Australian-inspired dinner menu because, well, it’d be rude not to, right?
Cronulla Jazz and Blues Festival
Four days and over 100 free performances, beer and wine bars, food stalls, a record fair and a film festival; Cronulla’s cool-as Jazz and Blues Festival is not to be missed. Held at several venues and locations across the beachside suburb between May 29th and June 2nd, there’s truly something for everyone - including kids. Pick Up Some Seasonal Produce At The Shire Farmers’ Market
Forget the supermarket for a moment and instead plan a weekend visit to the Shire Farmers’ Market, held every Saturday from 8:00am until 1:00pm at the Flora Street car park in Sutherland. The offering is ever-rotating but the food you’ll find here is consistently fresh and delicious; from fruit and veg to coffee and gourmet treats. Hit The Coast Via The National Park
Trips to our beautiful coastline should never be reserved only for summer days. The National Park is full of stunning walks that will see you traipsing high above the ocean, checking out natural waterfalls and - if you’re brave enough - digging your toes into the sand. Try the Eagle Rock walk, Karloo track or Bundeena to Wedding Cake Rock.
