What’s On In The Shire This April
Autumn's rolled in with a bang, and we've got a lineup you won't want to miss!
Cony's, Cronlla
April is a great month, in our opinion – a plethora of Easter treats, many short work-weeks, crisp fresh air, and lighter mornings for our early risers thanks to daylight savings. With school holiday activities, bottomless brunches, and new openings, the Shire is buzzing with things to do.
Here’s your ultimate guide to what’s on in the Shire this April.
What’s On In The Shire This April
Hot Cross Bun Season Has Officially Peaked
Easter’s just around the corner, and the Shire’s in full hot cross bun mode. Whether you’re all about the classic fruit-filled variety or keen to try a chocolate, espresso, or Biscoff twist, now’s the time to stock up. These local bakeries are serving the goods — and we’ve rounded them all up in our Hot Cross Bun Guide here.
Cony’s Menu Just Got an Upgrade — Taco Night Included
Cony’s new menu has landed, and that includes a fresh new Taco Night lineup every Thursday. We’re talking Pulled Beef, Crispy Fish, or Spicy Bean Tacos for $8 each, plus $15 Classic Margys and $18 Signature Cocktails. The main menu’s had a glow-up too — think Snapper Ceviche, Crispy Tofu Bites, Slow-Cooked Pork Belly, and Churros to finish.
Get Your Pickleball On With The Pickle Society
It’s official — the Shire has caught pickleball fever. The Pickle Society, the area’s first dedicated pickleball venue, is set to serve up something new for locals of all ages. Soft launching on Saturday, April 13th, with a grand opening on Saturday, April 27th, this new spot is transforming Caringbah Tennis Courts (1 Fenton Avenue) into a buzzing hub of activity. Expect fast-paced rallies, good vibes, and a community-first atmosphere — it’s the social sport you didn’t know you were missing.
Indulge In Fior’s $49 Mid-Week Menu
Safe to say, this one’s now on our weekly rotation. Tucked in the heart of Gymea, Fior is already known for its elevated Italian eats and chic interiors — and their $49 Weekday Set Menu is turning heads (and filling bellies). Available all night Monday to Thursday and Fridays before 4:00pm, they’re dishing up focaccia, antipasti, a main, dessert and a glass of wine or beer for just $49pp. Perfect for client lunches, sneaky midweek catch-ups, or an early dinner that feels a little fancy without blowing the budget.
Pay Your Respects This Anzac Day
ANZAC Day is fast approaching, and the Shire is set to mark the occasion with services, parades, and of course — a few rounds of two-up. It’s a time to reflect, pay our respects, and come together as a community. From early morning commemorations to afternoon catch-ups at the local, we’ve rounded up what’s on this ANZAC Day here.
Keep The Kids Occupied This School Holidays
We know school holidays can feel like a bit of a long slog when you’ve got a menagerie of tiny, spirited humans in tow. But fear not; the Shire is full of exciting activities to suit all personalities and keep them well-entertained. From high-energy activities at ClimbFit or Cronulla Surfing Academy to creative-based classes at Hazelhurst Art Gallery or Part Time Ceramics, discover our complete School Holiday Guide here.
Meet The Shire’s Newest Opening, Mansfield Coffee
Word’s out — a fresh new brew spot just landed in Caringbah. Located just off the Kingsway, Mansfield Coffee has officially opened its doors and the locals are already making it their new go-to coffee stop, pulling in a steady crowd of early risers, remote workers, and anyone chasing a proper coffee hit without the chaos. This new addition brings serious inner-city energy to the Shire’s coffee scene. The team behind Mansfield isn’t new to the game either — they know their way around quality beans, warm service, and the kind of calm, curated space you’ll want to stay awhile in.
Rocksalt’s Five-Course Bottomless Is Here
Rocksalt’s shaking things up with a brand-new Bottomless Saturday — and it’s a five-course fiesta. For $99pp, you’ll get share-style favourites paired with 90 minutes of bottomless sips. We’re talking Margaritas, Aperols, Lychee Martinis, plus a curated selection of wine and beer. Seatings run from 12:00pm to 2:30pm every Saturday, so settle in, graze the afternoon away, and let the drinks flow.
Make A Morning Of It At The Shire Farmers Market
If you know, you know — The Shire Farmers Market is the place to be on a Saturday morning. Tucked in the heart of Sutherland, this local favourite brings together stalls packed with fresh produce, artisanal goods, baked treats and more. Whether you’re swinging by for your weekly fruit and veg haul, chasing that perfect almond croissant, or just soaking up the live music and good vibes, it hits the sweet spot for local food lovers.
Watch Ballet Blanc At Sutherland’s Pavilion
A beautifully produced 60-minute traditional ballet is set to take the stage at The Pavilion Performing Arts Centre this April. Ballet Blanc presents Coppélia — a delightful tale filled with music, mischief, and magic, brought to life by two professional lead dancers and a talented cast of hand-picked performers from studios across the Sutherland Shire, Illawarra, and Sydney. With a one-hour run time and no interval, this enchanting performance is the perfect introduction to ballet for little ones. Whether it’s their first time seeing a show or they’re already tutu-obsessed, Coppélia offers a family-friendly theatre experience that’s equal parts fun and magical. Catch it on Saturday, April 27th, with two sessions at 1:30pm and 5:30pm.
Apple-tini, Anyone?
The OG Apple Martini is turning 21 and the Natale Group is celebrating in style — with $14 Apple Martinis all April long, from 12:00pm to 3:00pm across all three venues. Head to Alphabet Street for lunch Thursday to Sunday, or drop into Giro Osteria and Johnny Hu from Friday to Sunday for the ultimate midday sip. Rally the lunch crew and raise a glass to the OG.
