Attend This Sunset Cultural Ceremony At Burnum Burnum Sanctuary

Presented by local Aboriginal elders, this sunset ceremony involves traditional dance, music, a yarning circle, workshops, art stalls and displays by local community leaders. The ceremony acknowledges that for First Nations Peoples, Australia Day carries different connotations and provides a solemn and respectful way to engage with the profound significance of this day. The ceremony will take place at Burnum Burnum Sanctuary in Woronora from 5pm until 8pm on Wednesday 25th January. Find more details here.

Catch Bangarra Dance Theatre At The New Performing Arts Centre 

The Pavilion Performing Arts Centre in Sutherland will be opening its doors this January for its first public performance. They are kicking things off with Waru-Journey Of A Small Turtle by the Bangarra Dance Theatre. A journey of survival and discovery, the story is inspired by the totemic system of the green turtle, in an interactive and immersive introduction to Torres Strait Islander culture and dance. Great for children three and up, the performance also includes hands-on activities for kids to engage in before and after the show. Grab tickets here.
