Six To Try: Shire Italian Eateries You Need To Visit

Buon appetito!

Almo Pizza

Almo Pizza

When the cravings for pasta, pizza, vino and melt-in-your-mouth tiramisu hit, this is the only list you need. Which venue is next on your list?

Fior Restaurant

Fior

Just when we thought the Shire’s rota of Italian restaurants couldn’t get any better, Fior hit the streets of Gymea. The latest venture of Tristan Rosier and Rebecca Fanning, the duo behind Sydney’s cult classics Jane and Arthur, Fior’s 120-seat venue promises to combine Aussie charm with Italian character. The menu features a selection of indulgent pastas, pizzas and antipasti, there is an aperitivo hour between 4:00pm and 5:00pm daily, and - best of all - a roaming gelato trolley for dessert at your fingertips. Buon appetito!

Pinos, Cronulla

Pino’s

New to the Shire’s restaurant scene, Pino’s al Mare is an Italian eatery making waves with its authentic Puglia-inspired charm. Offering a menu that celebrates the simplicity and richness of traditional Italian cuisine, fan favourites include classic Pici Cacio e Pepe and Rich Lobster Pasta. Whether you’re planning a long-overdue date night or a leisurely lunch with friends, Pino’s offers the perfect backdrop, menu, and wine list—featuring selections from Italy, Australia, and South Africa—to make your Italian feast one to remember.

Queen Margherita

Getting the seal of approval from the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana is kind of a big deal. Queen Margherita is an accredited member which means all of their pizzas must strictly be cooked in 60-90 seconds at temperatures exceeding 450 degrees in a wood-burning oven. The result? A light, soft and foldable crust. They’ve got a number of red pizzas, white pizzas and vegan pizzas on offer and just three rules for diners - one size only, no pineapple, no half and half. Ordering a pizza is a no-brainer but you’d be silly not to get in on a few of their pasta dishes, too. Pair with a Limoncello Spritz or Negroni! As for specific recs, our go-to's are the Prosciutto Crudo E Rucola, Linguine Di Gamberi and Classic Rocket Salad.

Giro Osteria

Gear up for the Italian feast of a lifetime! Giro Osteria serves up a range of authentic Italian dishes including antipasto, entrees and pasta alongside an impeccable cocktail and wine menu. You can also BYO wine to any service (excluding Friday and Saturday evenings). Our recommendations? Opt for their iconic Cacio e Pepe, served from a giant cheese wheel, Pasta Con Ragù and Gnocchi Napoletana. For drinks, we can’t go past Giro Osteria’s Apple Martini and Salted Caramel Espresso Martini (topped with fairy floss!). Don’t miss the Tiramisu for dessert.

Bobby’s

Located along South Cronulla beach, Bobby's will transport you to the Italian Riviera with its breathtaking water views and terracotta hues. A venue that celebrates European culinary traditions, expect a share-style menu that's perfect for an afternoon aperitif or a leisurely long lunch. Start with the light Stracciatella or Anchovies on Toast, before diving into hearty mains like the robust Ragu or flavour-packed Whole Snapper. Don't skip the Lemon Tiramisu for dessert—a refreshing twist on a classic. So, for a slice of European charm right in the heart of The Shire, you know what to do.
