Inspire Creative Arts: A Hub For Young Artists
Offering Dance, Musical Theatre, Drama And More
When we discovered Inspire Creative Arts we were thrilled. Offering children and young people the opportunity to participate in a thriving musical theatre scene as well as dance and drama programs, Inspire is a space unlike any other. Their concerts are renowned and their ethos of “unleashing creativity, igniting passion, unearthing potential and discovering community” is particularly wholesome. We love to see it.
The talent behind Inspire, Jemma, began her journey 15 years ago. Still in high school and just 16 years old, Jemma kicked off her teaching career with a class of six ballerinas and a borrowed space. With a vision to educate and encourage a new generation of young artists, it wasn’t long until Jemma’s offering expanded. Now, Inspire is a safe, inclusive and creative haven for young people to live out their creative dreams with studios located in Grays Point, Caringbah and Annandale.
“Our desire is for every student to come through our doors and feel seen, heard and valued, as they are given the opportunity to learn, create and thrive in a fun, uplifting and passionate environment.
“We want our students to be able to know and identify their strengths, to take risks and try new things, build meaningful relationships and grow in their skill and love for the Performing Arts”, shares Jemma.
A safe and supportive environment is paramount for Jemma. “We are really intentional about the culture we create at Inspire”, she shares. “We protect and value childhood, by creating an age-appropriate environment through carefully selected music, choreography and costuming. We include young people from all backgrounds, ages and abilities, because the Arts is for all. We encourage one another and use words that uplift, empower and inspire.”
As for the classes on offer, expect variety, with programs to suit girls and boys aged three and up. You’ll find preschool classes, jazz, contemporary, classical ballet, hip hop, tap, musical theatre and drama. On top of this, Inspire provides performance teams, private tuition, audition preparation and other opportunities for young artists with a desire to pursue the Performing Arts professionally.
Aside from building fitness, confidence and self-esteem, Inspire aim to educate their young people with a number of lessons that will serve them well beyond the walls of the studio. “So much of what I learned as a child and teen is linked to my experiences in dance”, notes Jemma. “Taking risks and initiative, learning from mistakes, developing creativity, resilience, responsibility, leadership skills and communication skills”, she continues. A worthwhile investment if you ask us!
