DNA Distillery Doing The Shire Proud

Shire-Based Business Awarded Top Prize At 2022 World Spirits Competition

If you’re yet to hear of DNA distillery, jump over here and read more about their journey when we first introduced them back at the end of 2021. Having just been awarded Double Gold at the 2022 World Spirits Competition for their first-ever batch of Classic and Gold Rakija, we couldn’t be prouder!

In being awarded a Double Gold Medal, every judge on the panel awarded a gold rating to the Rakija.

According to SFWSC guidelines, receiving a Double Gold conveys that a product is “among the finest the industry has to offer.”

These awards come only weeks after DNA was awarded for both their Rakija varieties at the UK International Wine and Spirits Competition.

The Australian-made Macedonia-born Rajika is the first of its kind on the Australian market and sold out in just three months, after launching in late 2021.

“It’s insane, in the best way” DNA Distillery Co-Founder Monique says.

“This is our first year, our first batch and we’re so honoured to be awarded alongside some of the best spirits in the world, and that people love it as much as we do.”

“DNA is a part of us – our family, traditions and spirit are infused in every bottle. When we started, we just wanted to stay true to who we are and share our story. And to see this being recognised globally is incredible.”

Since its founding, the SFWSC has become one of the most respected and influential spirit competitions in the world.

The SFWSC takes great pride in ensuring that all entries are treated with equal care and consideration by its judges. The judging process is completely blind as judges do not receive any information about the drink they are tasting, ensuring each spirit is judged fairly and without bias.

While tasting, judges evaluate each product on an individual basis, not compared to other entries in the category. Judges independently decide which entries are worthy of a Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal. Entries that receive a Gold medal from all judges on a panel earn a Double Gold award.

Starting DNA our goal was to change the way people drink,” DNA Co-Founder James says.

“And we’re just getting started. We have big plans for DNA so watch this space.”
