It’s safe to say that byStella is nothing short of skin rejuvenation heaven. Facials. Tick. Peels. Tick. Laser treatments. Tick. The most luxurious salon in town. Big tick! ByStella is about the whole body experience, not solely about the treatment itself and after our recent visit, we can certainly vouch for that.
With extensive experience in the nonsurgical cosmedical field, Stella Shenouda founded bySTELLA Skin Clinic earlier this year. Along with an impressive list of high-profile celebrity clientele including Lisa Wilkinson and Rose Byrne, Stella’s work has also graced the pages of Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and Grazia. You can imagine our excitement when we were asked to come in and experience their signature treatment, the HydraFacial. It was a big YES.
Before my first visit to byStella I was completely unaware that I had driven by the clinic multiple times. Hidden in the residential area of Cronulla, ByStella is unassuming and seriously chic, the kind of chic that surpasses every clinic in Double Bay.
On arrival, the salon doors were opened by Angel, one of byStella's beauticians. Along with Angel's welcoming smile, I was met with a dreamy combination of light timber flooring, marble benchtops and splashes of lush greenery all leading to byStella’s incredible crystal clear pool. Angel led the way to their stylish lounge area, where a delicious spread of refreshments and a cool glass of lemon-infused water was waiting. Instantly eyeing off the peanut brittle, it was the perfect snack while filling in the consultation form.
By this stage, the relaxation had well and truly set in. It was now time for a thorough skin analysis using state-of-the-art technology, the Visia Skin Analysis Machine. The machine rotates, capturing left, right and frontal face views. It was incredible. Admittedly I have had a skin analysis before, but this machine was next level, revealing so much detail about the health of my skin. I even got to see the ageing process of my skin, until I hit 83 years old! Angel pointed out areas of focus and then we were off to the treatment room. For me, my major issues were dehydration under my eyes and congestion.
ByStella extends across three jaw-dropping levels. If you’re wondering, this whole house is dedicated to the byStella Clinic. We had a complete tour and every treatment room was just as perfect as the last.
At byStella you’re not expected to walk up and down flights of stairs, with a lift taking you between levels. Hopping off at level 1, I was taken to their treatment room with the starry ceiling, the perfect scene for a complete hour of zen.
The HydraFacial has 3 steps: cleanse and peel, extract and hydrate, and an antioxidant infusion. What makes this treatment so unique is the machine itself; using patented technology, the one device does all of the above. It’s practically a supercharged version of a microdermabrasion machine.
To begin, the treatment started with a relaxing foot massage where I quickly began drifting in and out of sleep. We were then onto a cleanse and peel. The peel dissolves dead skin cells and unclogs pores, uncovering a new layer of skin. In step two, the machine removes debris and gunk from pores by painlessly sucking it out. Simultaneously, the device nourishes with intense moisturisers that quench the skin. Think of it as a circuit: as the bad stuff comes out, the good stuff goes in.
Left with an extremely healthy blank canvas, it was time for the antioxidant infusion. Angel saturated my skin surface with antioxidants and peptides to deliver maximum glow. While it was soaking in, I experienced the most blissful head, neck, shoulder, décolletage and upper back massage to date.
Immediately after the treatment, my skin looked and felt hydrated, glowy and healthy. With a herbal tea waiting just outside the treatment room, I slowly sipped my way back to consciousness after an hour of complete heaven. Angel showed me all of the gunk that was sucked from my skin. She said there’s often a surprising amount of gunk in there. It’s gross but oh-so-satisfying. Trust me.
There was absolutely no downtime, meaning no red or irritated skin and the results of the treatment continued to improve over the following week, with my skin still feeling and looking better than ever.
Post treatment we learnt more from Stella herself. Stella’s philosophy is to master the base so we can enjoy the confidence of glowing skin and feel as if we don’t need to wear any makeup at all. Stella tells us she wanted to marry up “effective, world-class treatments with a luxurious spa vibe… taking inspiration from the best clinics around the world”. Mission accomplished.
With such an extensive treatment menu, we were curious to find out what other treatments Stella also loves, besides her signature HydraFacial of course.
“One of my favourite treatments would be PICO Genesis,” she tells us, “a skin rejuvenation laser treatment that stimulates collagen, evens skin tone by diminishing pigmentation and brightens the complexion. We finish with our heal light, hydrating mask and a scalp massage to leave your skin looking radiant and feeling fresh!”
ByStella is a beauty haven unmatched in the Shire. From the moment you enter you’re instantly transported to another world and after your treatment, you’re left feeling wowed. You might think this is quite a praise, but you’ll realise after your first visit that it’s completely warranted.
