Alasana Studio Celebrates Its Second Birthday
This Gymea-based studio has answered a community’s call for respite and relaxation
It has been two years since Alasana Studio first landed in Gymea, offering “a safe space to be you” and bringing its gentle approach to health to Shire locals. And owners Alison and Matt say it’s been nothing but a joy.
The pair brought their spark to Gymea in August of 2022, landing a site on Gymea Bay Road. “We totally transformed the premises - we had never renovated anything before! It was a mental challenge, but in January of 2023 we hosted our first yoga class.” And the rest, as they say, is history.
Although bringing their bright idea to fruition took putting doubts aside, Alison and Matt say the studio, as it turns out, has answered a community call for respite from daily life. “People are sick of the fast pace, they’re looking for things to calm the mind and body,” they explain.
Operated by a team of experts and passionate professionals, Alasana offers a range of Yoga classes to suit every need: Vinyasa, Gentle Flow, Yin, and Restorative. "We also have done work with corporate clients and the local preschools," Alison said. Alison is a Clinical Hypnotherapist and specialises in helping people gain control of their anxiety and depression. This arm of the business has been in operation since 2017.
The studio, which was nominated for a Small Business Award two years in a row, has earned the respect and support of not only its clients, but of the surrounding businesses. “We have loved having the support of other Gymea shop owners - they even run across the road to catch my A-frame if the wind blows it down the street!” says Alison.
“We love that we can offer a sanctuary for the community and also for emerging yoga teachers. There are exciting things coming, and we just want to watch Alasana continue to grow.”
To celebrate their 2nd birthday, Alasana is offering a special deal for the month of August: 10 classes for just $199. You can explore their services, including hypnotherapy, via alasana.com.
